Political Correctness

RedBone speck calls are built with one thing in mind - sounding like a speck. Thats why we put our calls up against live birds - because sounding "live" is the point.

We put a lot of sound on here so you can hear what the call will do - RedBone is all about sound - so we want you to be able to hear what our calls can do.

We don't compare our calls with other calls, that would be pointless - we compare them with live specks.

We don't build a "fancy wrapper" and put some $0.50 guts we buy from another callmaker in them. And we don't pull some injected toneboards and wedges out of box that contains 5000 of each, then do a "wham bam thank you ma'am" tune job on 'em

RedBone calls are more expensive on the inside than they are on the outside - we spend the money and the time to get the "insides" right - because thats the part that makes the sound

You can hear all kinds of talk and read all types of non-sense from all the new fangled "speck experts" that all of a sudden popped up a couple years ago - but realism is all that matters - check out the files - the proof is in the sound

Here are a couple of live bird/RedBone comparison sound files that contain finishing type sounds - These types of sound can be very effective in positioning birds for the shot or even as a hail if conditions permit

Sounding like specks is the key to finishing birds. Its the difference in having to take'em at 50-60 and crippling a couple that sail way off - instead of taking them at 15-25 so even the newbies are killing two or three each.

Every RedBone toneboard is hand filed and finshed based on the sounds of live geese - the call is assembled and blown - then disasembled and shaped - then assembled and blown - over and over till the pitches and pressures are correct - then they are tuned to live bird sound files because realism is all that matters

A live bird instructional CD is part of every sale because there is no better way to learn to sound like a speck than by listening to them. There is not only instruction on how to operate the call, the CD contains recordings of live specks to practice with.

Its impossible to learn how to sound like them if you do not know what they sound like - realism is not a matter of "interpretation" or some BS "style" some self proclaimed internet hero dreamed up - realism can be demonstrated with live bird comparisons - just like the ones on this page

Special thanks to my podnuh Mike Breaux from Sweetlake Louisiana. His assistance in the production of the field sound files that we are using in the instructional materials and that are used as references for building the guts for our speck calls is a big part of how much realism there is in every RedBone  - thanks Mike
We are finding that folks like either a tighter, higher tuning or one that is a little looser and heavier on the bottom.

The #1 tuning in these sound files is the lower tuning and #2 is the higher tuning. You can use these files as examples or points of reference for discussing the tuning of your call while ordering

The call can be set up lower than the #1 and higher than the #2 but these are realistic reference points.

Some RedBone owners buy the call tuned in #1 or even lower. Then after they've gotten a good grip on whats going on inside the call and how what they are doing to the call effects it, they send the call back to us to have the original tuning setup at a #2 or higher.

the #1 tuning - well really this is kind of a high #1
